Drs Ford & Towarnicki adding services at New Wound Healing Center

A new Wound Care Center is now open at Jewish Hospital, offering patients a comprehensive quality approach to wound healing and providing state-of-the-art clinical services to our fastest-growing medical demographic:patients with diabetes aged 40 years and older. Dr. Timothy Ford is the Medical Director of the Wound Care Center with Dr Jonathan Towarnicki adding his wound care expertise to the Center. The Wound Healing Center @ Jewish Hospital provides a multidisciplinary approach wot wounds with specialists in vascular, plastic and foot & ankle surgery as well and infectious disease.

The Wound Care Center treats patients with non-healing wounds that require an advanced level of care. Wounds typically treated at the center include those that are chronic and especially difficult to heal, such as diabetic, venous and pressure ulcers. Internal injuries may also benefit from treatment at the center, including the late effects of radiation, osteomyelitis and crush injuries. Patient progress reports are provided on a regular basis and upon completion of treatment, the patient is discharged back to the referring physician.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) is also available at the center as a proven, Medicare-approved treatment to advance our program’s wound healing capability. HBO has been proven to accelerate wound healing in patients with diagnoses including: diabetic, venous, pressure and arterial ulcers; post-surgical flaps or grafts, surgical and trauma wounds, crush injuries and other non-healing wounds.

The Wound Care Center is located on the sixth floor at Jewish Hospital Rudd Heart and Lung Buliding. Appointments may be made by calling 502.561.3918 or faxing a referral form to 502.587.4066.
